Join us in Helsinki for this year’s Public Broadcasters International conference.
We are pleased to once again partner with Public Broadcasters International for this year’s conference in Helsinki on the theme:
Creating value for society
in a rapidly changing world
The conference brings together public service broadcasters from around the world to share experiences and ideas about how best to deal with challenges that are unique to public service broadcasting.
Hosted by Finland’s Yle, the conference will feature sessions on pertinent issues for public media, including threats to democracy and the role of the media in building trust, legacy and leadership in the digital age, and the need for a shared public media space for citizens.
Launched in 1991, PBI now boasts a membership of more than 80 public service broadcasters. The conference is also open to broadcasters that offer programming and news for all audiences and are required, by law or charter, to serve the general public interest.
PMA CEO Sally-Ann Wilson will be part of the panel titled “Big thinking-what to maintain and what to change?” alongside Hanna Stjärne, CEO of Sveriges Television SVT and Gilles Marchand, Director General, SRG SSR. Elsewhere, PMA President and Radio New Zealand CEO, Paul Thompson, will participate in the panel “Collaborate or Die?”, while PMA board member and CBC/Radio-Canada CEO, Catherine Tait will explore how public media create value for society as part of a panel on day 1.
PBI 2019 will take place from the 9-11 September 2019. Registration is now open. Follow the link below for more details.
