Market-Driven and Democracy-Driven Freedom of Expression

Nordicom has released its latest anthology exploring the market pressures that influence freedom of expression. The anthology is based on the output of a conference on Communicative Democracy, which was held at the University of Gothenburg in October 2015.

According to Nordicom, “Blurring the lines focuses on challenges from the market to free speech and how free speech can be protected, promoted and developed when lines between journalism and advertising are blurred.”

Twenty scholars contributed to the anthology, with topics ranging from commercial constraints on media freedom to the role and responsibility of state institutions in protecting free speech.
