Sally-Ann Wilson will be stepping down as the CEO of PMA at the end of March 2022. “Running PMA has been a wonderful experience, it is a role I have loved, but with a strong team in place this is the right time for me to move on and let new hands and minds guide the organisation”, she said.
An experienced radio and TV journalist and Broadcast Executive, Sally-Ann joined what was then the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association [CBA] in 2001 to set up an international documentary project, WorldView. In 2010 she was appointed Secretary-General of the CBA and worked with the membership to transition it to the globally focused Public Media Alliance in 2014.
“Running PMA has taught me so much about the importance of public media and what it means for people to be able to access independent news and accurate information. It really does underpin democracy. I hope to use my experience of working in public media in new ways in the years ahead”. Sally-Ann will continue to represent PMA on the Consultative Network of the Media Freedom Coalition.
Sally-Ann will be succeeded as CEO by Kristian Porter, currently PMA’s Deputy CEO. Kristian has been a long-time core member of the PMA team and is already a familiar face to many PMA members.
“While public service media faces many challenges, I firmly believe that its core values are more relevant and necessary than ever. It’s an honour to be appointed CEO of PMA, and while I have big boots to fill, I look forward to the challenge of advocating for and supporting public media”, he said.
“Sally-Ann has been an inspirational leader and an ardent supporter of independent public media worldwide. She will be sorely missed by the team and PMA’s members”.
Kristian will become CEO in April.
