With the Cricket World Cup due to start on 14 February, the public radio stations of Australia – one of the host nations, India and the UK are collaborating on a new cricket-themed programme called ‘Stumped’
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, All India Radio and the British Broadcasting Corporation (who originally created the programme) will provide presenters from the three cricket-mad nations to engage in lively, irreverent and informative debate on air, reports South Asian news agency ANI.
“AIR is delighted to co-produce and broadcast ‘Stumped’’, together with BBC and ABC, on cricket, which undoubtedly is the favourite sport of millions of sports lovers in India. All India Radio hopes that this programme will help ordinary listeners understand the sport better and also spark listeners’ interest in the game,” said All India Radio Director-General, F Sheheryar.
Each week, the show will examine key talking points as well as look at some of the lighter stories in sport from around the world while on location in host countries Australia and New Zealand.
The programme is currently airing on Saturdays, in Australia on ABC News Radio and ABC’s Grandstand DAB Sport network, India on AIR FM Rainbow and streamed to the AIR website, and on BBC World Service, as well as on the World Service website as a listen-again podcast.
